Have you ever wanted to create your very own web site? Or teach your students to create a web site? Using Google Sites it is super easy!

If you are logged into your school email, you can easily access Google Sites from there. At the top left of your screen you will see Sites. If you don't you can click on More and look for Sites. Take a look at this picture: mail.jpg

After clicking on Sites, it will bring you to a new window where you can create new site. Click on the gray Create new site button. I have found the most luck choosing a blank template, which is the default. Then you must give your name a site (this will be part of the URL). I like to try to keep it short. This is up to you. At this time you can choose a theme but you can also do that at a later time too. Clicking on More Options allows you to share your site. While building your site you can keep it private. If you want anyone to see your site (and I mean anyone) check off the box to make it public. Then click on the blue box that says Create site!

Once you click on that button it will bring you to your home page. To add text and pictures, etc. you click on the Edit Page button at the top right of your screen:

After making any changes or adding content to your page you should click on the Save button at the top right of your screen.save.jpg

You probably will have multiple pages to your web site. To add another page, you click on the Create page button at the top right of your screen.

You will give this page a name. For example, our school's web sites has multiple pages, "student resources" is the name of one page.

Also, Google has a wonderful help section that is easily accessible. There is a help link at the top right of every screen. Here is their Getting Started Guide to creating a web site.
